Job Description
What we're looking for
- Ideally a degree calibre procurement professional with experience of working within the construction and FM categories with experience with JCT Contracts.
- A proven ability to:
- Play a proactive and lead-role in defining sourcing and negotiation strategies for both planned and ad-hoc requirements
- Through regular internal customer liaison & engagement, ensure that ISP can influence sourcing strategies without deadlines or milestones being a limiting factor.
- Produce detailed RFPs with support from multifunctional teams, and lead/manage local competitions
- Lead negotiations with MBDA suppliers to maximise value for money, delivery and quality
- Develop appropriate contracting methodology with use of templates to draft, negotiate and gain signoff of contracts via the gate review process
- Make significant contribution to national & international strategy development in support of the Category Manager
- Launch and manage specific planned saving initiatives through to validation by Finance to achieve agreed targets
- Conduct regular supplier risk assessments, ensure NDA's are completed and supplier Ts and Cs are thoroughly reviewed, highlighting any risks or considerations the business may wish to challenge.
- Manage internal customer's requirements often with shorter than agreed lead-times, and able to challenge customer's decision on sourcing where supplier quality or integrity is in question and/or cost is unacceptably high
- Raising, maintaining and managing Request for Quotations, Purchase Orders and outstanding order book in an effective and timely manner using the appropriate procurement tools.
- Provide executive summaries and detailed briefs for senior management reviews, including detailed risk analysis and recommendations at gate reviews
- Proactively conduct regular market research for the category to inform and educate the internal customer and the business of opportunities to improve on services and/or cost including finding innovative solutions.
- Provide support to regular stakeholder / supplier reviews, presenting a commercial overview on key suppliers and commodities in terms of schedule adherence, risk and planned mitigations
- Ensuring Deliver and Quality performance supplier management targets are achieved and, where necessary, effective improvement plans are established and managed closely
- Deputise for the Category Manager at Senior Stakeholder meetings where appropriate
- Foster a team work ethic, sharing best practice and supporting development of other buyers within the Indirect teams both nationally and internationally.
