What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone full-time to help fundraise for the most fundamental scientific research in the quantum realm and beyond. The funding needed to pursue these investigations is tiny in both relative and absolute terms but the impact cannot be overemphasised.

What’s the problem?

Quantum physics and general relativity (which explains gravity) do not jell. They’re one century old each. We need new physics and new experiments to make progress.

Why does it matter?

While it may be an abstract subject matter, these inconsistencies explain the lack of coherence between physics, biology and computation. They arguably have far-reaching real-world consequences, from AI safety to climate change and beyond. In many ways, this lack of unification accounts for why so many smart minds get turned away from STEM.

Why now?

Professor Vlatko Vedral and Dr Chiara Marletto have recently defined a set of table-top experiments using simple quantum systems as a probe of the quantum nature of gravity, based on novel theoretical tools going beyond quantum theory. These tests and the general theory explaining them will reveal the ultimate path to investigating how quantum physics and general relativity (which explains gravity) can jell.
