Job Description

At Summerset we are here to bring the best of life to our residents. To do this, we have created a brand-new role to help provide the safest, healthiest and most enjoyable lifestyle that is possible for Summerset Care Centre residents.

In this role you will provide high quality support to residents in a way that is respectful and considerate. With a strong focus on person-centred care, you will help residents in their daily activities and cultural programmes while focusing on improving independence with mobility therapy, supporting access and participation in recreation and diversional therapy - especially in the afternoons for people living with Dementia.

To be considered for this role, you will;

  • Be able and willing to achieve the Level 2 (Foundation Skills) National Certificate in Health, Disability and Aged Support. We will support you to gain this qualification
  • Have an understanding of people living with dementia and be willing to undertake Careerforce Dementia training modules
  • Have high level of empathy, kindness and patience and emotional resilience to deal with demanding situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in working with older people from all walks of life
  • Work 5-hr rostered shifts throughout the week, including weekends (i.e. 4 on 2 off rostered and rotating shift) and a minimum of 40 hours per fortnight
  • Have a good level of physical fitness to deliver the best in care
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of Te Reo and / or of Maori decent an advantage

To recognise the important work that you do for our residents, we offer the following:

  • In addition to market leading pay, a weekend rate of an additional 40 percent of the hourly rate
  • Part-time hours to suit
  • Best staff benefits package in the sector! We offer health cover (if applicable), meal allowances, clothing allocation and discounts at a range of suppliers plus much more
  • A great role where you can really make a difference to our residents' quality of life
  • An enthusiastic and supportive team that is fun to be part of

If you, or someone you know, are strong enough to care, then we would love to hear from you.

Please note, due to NZ Immigration requirements we are obliged to consider candidates that already have the right to work in NZ for this role first. Due to this we may not be able to support a visa application for this role. This role may close early due to an increased number of applications - apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

The safety of our residents and staff is important to us. For this reason, we require all our employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before commencing work at Summerset.

Please note, only suitable applicants will be contacted.
