Reporting into the Plan and Build Team Manager, the Network Planner will play a key role within the Plan and Build team. The Network Planner plans and orders circuits to maintain and grow bandwidth capacity in the TalkTalk Access Network environment. They also plan topology changes of the network based on specific requirements of the business. This enables services to be provided in a stable and secure environment.
As a Network Planner you will be responsible for:
• Ensuring that circuit design and planning are completed in a cost effective and timely manner to deliver project and BAU business requirements.
• Selection of backhaul product based upon requirements.
• Interface to Network Projects such as Helium, CFH and BAU Growth and provide regular progress updates and schedules.
• Manage and report data to the Circuit Ordering Forum (COF) and manage the approvals process for the appropriate circuit solutions.
• Manage and present data to the weekly Network Performance Meeting, reporting on any immediate deliverables, or specific areas of focus.
• Reporting to the Senior Network Planner (s).
• Producing progress reports for updates to the Access Engineering Manager.
• Ensuring that data is managed and validated in a timely manner .
How will I add value in this role?
• By ensuring that required levels of circuits are planned and requested to order to maintain required levels of bandwidth for both capacity and resilience.
• Achieving the above by combining experience of the TalkTalk Access Network with knowledge of what off net circuit products are available and understanding the demands in terms of capacity and resiliency.
• Working seamlessly with Delivery Managers and Delivery Co-Ordinator's to ensure that the correct assets are planned and requested at the right time.
• Competent use of databases, systems, communication, knowledge of products and attention to detail to achieve the above.
• Acting as a point of contact for Network Planning including escalations & issues and ensure TalkTalk’s operating procedures are followed to ensure the successful delivery
You will also:
• Provide status reports on circuit planning progress, solutions and challenges
• Ensure that the workflows and processes are followed and regularly updated to ensure continuous process improvement, keeping stakeholders aligned with any changes.
• Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure that delivery is aligned with the requirements of the Access Network and the Network projects it supports (Such as Helium, CFH, DFX).
• Maintain a secure working environment in line with the requirements of the TalkTalk Security Policy in order to protect individuals, information and TalkTalk assets.
