You will be embedded in the Enterprise Infrastructure team and work closely with all of Technology teams to deliver virtualisation and cloud solution projects to support all IT operations activities. This role will focus on VMware tools and Azure cloud. You’ll liaise with multiple stakeholders, including Application SMEs, System Owners and other Departmental Teams on a range of projects and so the Hosting Specialist will need to have engagement from these individuals/teams in order for successful delivery.

Key accountabilities

• Establish a common design, engineering and build capability for virtualisation solutions across the enterprise.
• Develop and establish enterprise-wide virtualisation/cloud designs and engineering process to manage and support.
• Provide senior input on design, standards and policy documentation working with infrastructure architects and Outsourced Partners
• Responsible for the management, maintenance and support of virtualised/cloud environments and system management tools.  This may be directly for more complex activities or via OSP resource for level 1 and level 2 activities Monitor virtualized/cloud and consolidated platforms and identify performance and capacity issues proactively
• Work within strict time frames, resolving and elevating incidents where necessary Undertake infrastructure/cloud coordination related to design and setup activities at different stages of a project’s life cycle Interact and coordinate with peers, vendors, suppliers and consultants
• Work with incident, change and problem management teams as required Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports
• Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
• Maintain the necessary documentation of all virtualisation builds, provisions and modifications Demonstrate a logical approach, balancing business requirements with a ‘keep it simple’ configuration strategy
• Work with our outsourcing partners to achieve an enterprise capable infrastructure layer with heavy storage and compute virtualisation and orchestration Provision, rack and decommission any hardware associated with this technology area

About you

You’ll come from a background in infrastructure, have experience in VMware tools and have a good understanding of cloud platforms – ideally Azure. You will face into multiple cross functional stakeholders.
