This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) opportunity until March 2023.
The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team delivering assurance around IT application controls and IT General Controls for Aviva’s key finance programmes, ensuring that the methodology is appropriately applied across the processes in scope, and performing the assurance activity required to support both the local and Group reporting processes.
This will involve performing process walkthroughs and talkthroughs, delivery of independent assurance activity, including design and operational effectiveness testing and assessment of control issues.
You will be one of the team’s subject matter experts for IT controls relating to IFRS17 and other projects, including general IT controls and IT application controls. You will assist in identifying and testing ITACs across the IFRS17 project, with particular focus on new systems and changes to systems. The role will involve assisting on communication with key stakeholders and relevant process and control owners, working closely with them to ensure maintenance of a strong and effective control environment.
As a member of the wider FRCF team, this role will also support with delivery of all aspects of FRCF activity, including scoping and risk assessment, controls testing, assessment of controls deficiencies and performance of quality assurance assessments.
What will the role involve?
Contribute to the delivery of IT scoping activity to cover general IT controls and IT application controls and agreement of this scope with the IT controls assurance team where they support the delivery of this activity
Testing of IT application controls, and oversight of testing of general IT controls undertaken by the IT controls assurance team within the IFRS17 project
Support the performance of general IT controls and IT application controls scoping and testing in non-UK core markets
Provide input into the FRCF team’s continuous risk assessment process, specifically covering IT controls
Input into and production of management information over FRCF activity, specifically covering assurance activity and any control deficiencies relating to IT
Identification of opportunities to automate processes or controls
identify and share best practice on IT controls for financial reporting across the Group
Skills & experience we're looking for:
Current experience of audit/review IT controls testing in context of financial reporting, including working knowledge of current audit requirements in this area
Recent audit experience
Experience and knowledge of life assurance and general insurance
Risk and controls delivery experience, including SOx and internal risk and controls management
Knowledge and experience of financial reporting controls
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate complex issues in an easily understood manner
Ability to prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines whilst maintaining high quality of outputs
Work as a part of a highly motivated team to deliver the whole team objectives

A salary between £40,000-£50,000 depending on location, experience and qualifications
