We are currently looking to recruit an Issue Resolution Engineering Manager who will be acting as the Technical Client Organisation (TCO) Engineering Management representative, initially working in the Engineering Command Centre (ECC) in Paris. As the Engineering Manager you will work within the Issue Resolution function and work closely with the technical design teams and will be able to self-identify and bring support, clarity and focus to key areas as required to deliver in support of HPC.
The Technical Client Organisation (TCO) provides excellence in water reactor and licensing skills while developing and managing high level skills to support any reactor technology. The operating model allows us to support multiple licensees with different shareholders giving the means for sharing expertise to provide the most effective safety related solutions. The TCO provides all the skills and capability to support construction and operation of Pressurised Water Reactors (PWRs) as well as the dedicated technical skills needed across any technology.
Issue Resolution operates to solve large challenging project problems where the complexity of the solution, stakeholders involved and potential impact on the safety substantiation, design or construction of the HPC project is significant. Issue Resolution sits as part of the HPC licensee organisation within the boundary of the Technical Client Organisation but works closely with the Programmes and the Responsible Designer.
As the Issue Resolution (IR) Engineering Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager of Issue Resolution and be a member of the IR leadership team. You will be an integral part of the lead teams of the other functions within TCO. Your main accountabilities will include but will not be limited to:
• ECC Interface:
o Integrate and build trust with the key Responsible Designer (RD) lead teams for HPC; Edvance (Nuclear Island), CNEPE (Balance of Plant and Heat Sink), Direction Technique for referential and key safety case skills and Direction Industrielle for manufacturing expertise and surveillance.
o Influence and inspire the technical and engineering teams in the UK and France to help achieve challenging targets and manage emergent issues within the engineering programme.
o Create and develop change and inspire teams to support the HPC Project Milestones, closure of Open Points and successful landing and implementation of Consistent State 2.
o Provide high quality advice into decision making processes.
o Provide support to TCO, Delivery Programmes and Engineering to support efficient and successful interactions with the RD.
o Ensure that full benefit of the multi-cultural and knowledge of our engineering and technical teams is taken and resulting learning is embedded into TCO.
• Engineering Management:
o Resolution of HPC transverse issues, interfacing with HPC Engineering, TCO, Programme Management, HPC Site and the Responsible Designer
o Lead, agree and deliver resolution strategies for assigned issues.
• Management experience in an operational Nuclear or high hazard environment.
• Experience of working across international borders or in a similar multi-cultural environment.
• Direct experience of working with Safety Cases and Safety Case change and configuration management.
• Demonstrable high level of business acumen with a forward-thinking approach and focus on value and risk management.
• Resilient and results driven.
• Strong technical leadership skills and can motivate high performing teams.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate and convey information simply at all levels.
• Demonstrable experience of delivering successful projects.
• Ability to quickly understand a wide range of technical issues.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to proactively building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong track record of building personal trust and operating with integrity and credibility
• Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
• Desirable experience within the nuclear industry/ safety critical environment/UK regulatory environment.
• French will be beneficial but not a prerequisite.
