The partnership between Boeing and the UK dates back to the 1930’s and continues to get stronger and deeper, with UK jobs, skills and opportunities being constantly generated to support major UK aircraft programmes such as Apache & Chinook helicopters, C-17 Globemaster, P-8A Poseidon and the E-7 AEW&C, to mention a few.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Boeing UK Fixed Wing Supply Chain team for an Inventory Modelling Technical Specialist whose role will be to ensure stock is placed in the right location, at the right time for the UK P-8A Poseidon programme. The Fixed Wing Supply Chain team has responsibility for the forecasting of a Bill of Material for the P-8A, component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); inventory maintenance; inventory optimsation; procurement and supplier management; and warehouse storage and parts distribution.

The Inventory Modelling Specialist will work within Supply Chain Operations to assist with range, scaling and forecasting of inventory to support the P-8A aircraft. The role is accountable to the Fixed Wing Supply Chain Management leadership team.

The successful candidate will need to be proactive, agile thinker able to solve complex problems alongside a number of functions to develop and form the strategic supply chain approach for Fixed Wing programmes.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise the Inventory Modelling Tool to review data and align part number configurations with the Engineering Bill of Material.
  • Management of Target Stock Levels at pre-assigned locations.
  • Integration with Asset Managers and ILS Engineering to upkeep data variables within the Modelling Tool.
  • Produce quarterly forecast estimate for material.
  • Maintain a metric to monitor forecast accuracy against the Contacted Bill of Material.
  • Employ Root Cause and Corrective Action techniques to progressively explore areas to improve performance of the inventory
  • Execute Supply Chain Best Practices during the completion of all assigned work.
  • Working with both P-8 Programme stakeholders and International colleagues to further the sustainment capability of the UK Fixed Wing Supply Chain team.

Essential requirements:

  • Previous experience with demand forecasting, ranging and scaling of a product is a pre-requisite for this role
  • Experience with the use of tools and systems to forecast products is essential
  • Advanced Data Analytical skills
  • The ability to obtain SC Clearance
  • Advanced Communication Skills

Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Supply Chain Management is preferred
  • Experience of a collaborative team working environment

This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security Clearance for which the UK Government requires UK residency. The successful candidate will hold, or have the ability to obtain, Security Clearance (SC).
