Job Description
The Architecture Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area.
Responsibilities:
- Define the end to end technology architecture within the Intraday Liquidity Management ecosystem, target state and transition states. Clearly articulate options/roadmap for reaching target state.
- Engage and influence senior leaders across functions.
- Take ownership of key technology decisions ranging from build vs buy, evaluation of target state platforms, and selection of technology stack to support the Intraday Liquidity Management target state.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence via adoption of modern engineering practices, open source technologies etc.
- Collaborate with other ICG Operations & Technology teams to ensure technology solution aligns to the standards and best practices and ensure dependencies and risks are addressed.
- Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations and other personnel actions.
- Develops the architectural strategy for a group (portfolio) of IT systems.
- Develops and recommends solutions that conform to enterprise standards.
- Develops technological and business application portfolio road maps, based on emerging technologies and market trends/direction
- Supports the business/clients in evaluating and articulating the technical benefits of a solution to stakeholders.
- Exhibits sound understanding of theories and practices in architecture and multiple related areas.
- Has in depth understanding of how architecture integrates within technology and has commercial awareness.
- Shares responsibility for budget, policy formulation and planning.
- Requires evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated or novel situations; uses multiple sources of information.
- Impacts engineering through responsibility for planning, finances/ budget, end results and setting of policies.

- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience with 3-5 years within the enterprise architecture function for large scale technology transformation.
- Highly credible technical leader who is confident to dive deep on product, code base and conduct/support proof of concepts as required.
- Confident and influential communicator who carefully calibrates his/her message for the audience and can distil complex technical concepts into potent messages for the business.
- Significant experience with transformational, multi-year programmes, including Agile projects.
- Financial services knowledge or background is a must; exposure to Treasury operations or other areas of intraday liquidity management is a plus.
- Extensive experience in e2e architecture definition of high performant technology platforms using modern engineering practices like microservices, event based architecture, real time streaming etc.
- Experience of designing hybrid architecture comprising on-premise solutions and cloud native systems hosted on public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP
- Experience in DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Experience of both greenfield and brownfield legacy platform modernization.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
