Job Description

Materials & Processes Composite Technology Engineering: Definition and industrial deployment for Programmes of composite materials and manufacturing processes which are optimized in cost and performance. Ensure robust materials and process data as basis for qualification.

Airbus' current and future developments show the increased use of thermoplastic materials that offer the potential to be reused at their end of life. To make them fly, we have to prove their airworthiness, analyse their life cycle and look for ways to process and assemble them.

Your weekly working hours will be 35h/week with flexi-time.

Location: Bremen

Start: 01.04.2022

Duration: 6 months

The "Interior Materials" team in Airframe Engineering has taken up this challenge and is looking for you as a talented intern to support us and help you to advance in your academic journey.

Your tasks:

Based on your interests, you can either:

  • Support the Cargo design with the development of a thermoplastic cargo lining with a focus on joining processes for thermoplastics, robustness testing and material selection
  • Study the effects of material composition changes on their flammability properties and possibly affect the way we test in the future
  • Support the “Green Cabin & Cargo” project that aims at the development of sustainable materials for cabin and cargo applications.

Regardless of the topic you choose, you will be:

  • in charge of canvassing the state of the art e.g. by performing literature reviews
  • developing testing concepts, setting up test plans and conducting tests
  • wrapping up and communicating your test results
  • exchanging with project teams, research institutes, laboratories and external parties

Who We Are Looking For:

  • You are an enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field of study
  • Knowledge of Microsoft & Excel, good knowledge of Google Workspace (G-Suite)
  • You are curious about extending your knowledge every day
  • You have an autonomous way of working and the ability to overcome dynamic challenges
  • You demonstrate networking and communication skills to collaborate with universities, research centres and external partners
  • You are open-minded and show good analytical skills
  • Your English language skills is at an advanced level
