Due to the departure of a valued team member, we have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team based in either Wellington or Kapiti.

In this role, you will be working on multiple jobs and working to an agreed scope and budget. You will be responsible for understanding the scope of work, the project deliverables, our client's businesses and strategic issues, and ensuring successful project delivery and resource management.

In the day-to-day, you will be doing the following:

  • Working independently to assist and deliver practical and economic outcomes and solutions to problems for our clients
  • Communicating with technical staff to discuss the progress of work
  • Managing requests for additional work to the base contract requirements, coordinating with team leader prior to proceeding
  • Communicating with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure relevant parties are well informed about progress and timelines
  • Mentoring and coaching Graduate Engineers across the discipline
  • Developing relationships within the industry by utilising networking opportunities with professional bodies, local universities, other professional teaching and education bodies

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in the relevant industry
  • A tertiary Qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • The ability to effectively apply well-accepted engineering principles
  • Effective professional judgment and autonomy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A strong team focus and positive attitude
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proven time management and prioritization skills
  • A full, valid New Zealand driver's licence
  • An interest in research and technical writing
  • An NZ/Australian citizenship or have a valid New Zealand work visa
