Interconnect Power Efficiency Engineer

The Role:

As a member of the Infinity Fabric Architecture and RTL team, you will help build a power efficient high performance coherent interconnect that provides connectivity between CPUs, GPUs and special purpose accelerators. Every product that AMD sells has its own custom-designed Infinity Data Fabric. This role gives an engineer the opportunity to work on a broad array of products that address a variety of markets, including traditional enterprise servers, HPC, client desktop and laptop PCs, machine intelligence, graphics, console gaming, embedded, and customer-specific applications. The Person:

We are seeking an experienced microarchitecture power modeling and analysis engineer. A highly motivated engineer with strong collaboration and communication skills who is looking to grow and expand their experience in Interconnect design and power optimization techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Infinity Fabric team to drive power reduction including estimation, analysis, and optimization, flow setup, and methodology improvements.
  • Collaborate with fabric architects and designers, define use cases, identify and prototype power and perf-per-watt optimizations.
  • Develop power models, write scripts, analyze data, and evaluate tradeoffs against project goals.
  • Define power patterns and correlate with use cases.
  • Run power flow to generate enough data, for power analysis and power modeling correlation.
  • Develop power modeling methodologies, and improve it for better accuracy.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in ASIC power and low-power design techniques; 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Strong expertise in model building and data analysis
  • Experience in power analysis and optimization tools (e.g. PTPX, Power Artist, etc.)
  • Experience in RTL design and synthesis.
  • Knowledge in CPU, GPU, Interconnect/NOC architectures is a plus.
  • Scripting language, e.g. Perl, Python, tcl, etc.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, well organized, and self-driven.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Academic Credentials:

BS Major in EE, CS or related; Advanced degree preferred.
