In a nutshell

At Sainsbury’s, not only are we busy running and developing the best loyalty programme and getting to know our customers better than anyone else but we also engage with over 500 of our FMCG suppliers as well as our Nectar Partners. This role will play an important part in this.

Through the Nectar loyalty scheme we are able to utilise our transactional database for recruiting, informing and enhancing our research offer, integrating actual shopping behaviour with customers opinions and motivations. We conduct a large variety of research projects (eg. from segmentations to concept testing to trackers among others) across methodologies and clients, building on existing client relationships and analytical capabilities.

We are looking for an Insight Executive to join our business as part of the Insights team and support our internal and external stakeholders with customer research/ insight.

What you need to do

This role will play an important role in the Insight team as we Business Partner with more teams in the wider business to support them with their research needs. You will have access to existing tools and sources of data and conduct research to bring a customer perspective to key stakeholder decisions.

• Hands on involvement in research design, management and reporting back to clients and internal stakeholders
• Responsible for helping develop innovative bespoke research solutions
• Coach & support two Insight Associates

What you need to know

• Experience in a variety of research methodologies
• Experience in efficiently managing projects
• Ability to quickly ascertain client needs and propose the most appropriate methodology and delivery timeframe
• Ability to discuss research design, application and analysis techniques confidently with clients (with support from Insight Manager on more complex projects)
• Ability to interpret data and integrate multiple sources into a cohesive story is desired, but training on integration with our specific data sources will be provided

There are many ways to have acquired these skills and this knowledge, so there are no specific qualifications or similar proof points required.  However, relevant and demonstrable experience is of course essential, so it is likely that successful candidates will have Research Agency experience with exposure to all aspects of a project from proposal writing to results presentation. It is also likely that they will have experience of working within teams and building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
