About the Team
Major Works Division is responsible for delivering maintenance and renewal of existing infrastructure assets across the Sydney Trains network and enabling and supporting Transport infrastructure investments in the rail network.
The vision for Major Works Division is to become the deliverer of choice for rail infrastructure modernisation projects in Sydney Trains. To achieve this, it is focussed on delivering projects which are commercially competitive and meet the desired timeframes and quality and safety standards.
The Opportunity
The role of an Infrastructure Worker Cables will be to carry out maintenance, emergency repair and construction of works to agreed specifications and scope in accordance with Signalling Technical Maintenance plans, Signalling Construction Standards and Infrastructure Engineering Manuals.
The types of work conducted by this team will include constructing cables routes, Services Searches and Cable Locating of Signal Cables assets on Sydney Trains’ network. The Infrastructure Worker Cables is responsible to carry out the maintenance of Signal Cables to deliver work within the agreed project specifications. The specialised work of this position takes them all over the rail network. The work is rewarding, primarily outdoors and will involve safe working at heights in all kinds of weather at various times of the day and night, seven days a week, and working away within the rail network as required by Sydney Trains
This is a shift-based role with night shift, weekend work, overtime and on-call shifts based in our Lawson location.
About You
The successful applicant would:
Demonstrate ability to Implement EEO policies and requirements of the WH&S Act and demonstrate commitment to employee safety.
Demonstrate diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate ability to work within a team
Able to work rostered shifts (weekends, nights) and be willing to work away from home on Sydney trains infrastructure at various locations
Possess or be willing to obtain Cable Jointer’s qualifications
You will have demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills and able to use computer systems /mobile solutions and e-mail communications and in addition, you’ll need to hold a full driver’s licence and feel at home driving a small truck, 4WD or Ute.
Salary and benefits
AVP 1.1 – 3.2 / $1,001.00 - $1,370.35 per week ( with industry allowance) plus superannuation plus allowances and overtime.
