Reporting to the Accounting & Reporting Manager, this exciting role is responsible for the effective operation of the BMW Group Internal Control Systems (‘ICS’) methodology and Risk Management reporting for both the UK and Ireland National Sales Companies.

You will be a key business partner to teams across the business, responsible for supporting the identification of both financial and non-financial risks in key processes and advising on appropriate controls to help ensure the integrity of our performance, reputation, and financial reporting.

The role will allow you to gain exposure across the business, and has high visibility with all functional areas and with all management levels. You will have flexibility to manage your own workload whilst meeting the goals of the role.

  • Challenge and support Process Owners and Control Owners across the business on their processes and controls to ensure effective internal controls are implemented, reviewed and managed.
  • Work with Control Owners to provide guidance and remediate identified deficiencies and report on corrective actions. Ensure that control deficiencies are immediately addressed and analysed to understand the failing and to mitigate future issues.
  • Ensure the effective design and execution of control tests using a risk based approach.
  • Provide regular updates to Senior Management on the status of the Internal Control environment, and target a continuous improvement in the annual evaluation result.
  • Increase awareness of ICS across the company and work with Senior Management to enhance the ‘tone from the top’ and culture within the company.
  • Lead the rollout of Non-Financial ICS for the NSC, working with Process Owners from across the business to understand reporting processes and controls.
  • Identify and report significant, entity-level risks which could have a material impact on the company, as part of the bi-annual risk reporting process. This includes both financial and non-financial risks.
  • Monitor and support the reduction of user conflicts in SAP IFT, and design compensating controls to help mitigate risks.

Qualifications

  • Preferably a Qualified Accountant or experienced in Internal Controls.
  • External or internal audit experience would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in identifying risks and mitigating with controls, and working with stakeholders to implement change.
  • Task orientated, organised, and motivated self-starter who is able to work off their own initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confident in presenting in a clear and concise manner to people at all levels in the business.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong team player with the ability and desire to lead, develop and support others.
  • Ability to handle pressure whilst prioritising multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
