We are actively recruiting an HR Business Partner to join our existing team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland which is also part of the wider G4S SSUK HR Team working on one of our key public sector contracts.  As a key member of our Business Support function you will be part of an established and experienced team alongside your colleagues in SSUK.  Your role will empower you to take ownership of planning, delivery and the on-going change management of the HR support function with a team reporting under you with HR, Recruitment and Training functions.  You will work alongside another Support Unit that will comprise HR, Finance, Quality & Compliance and Contract Administration functions.  We won’t expect you to be tied to a desk and you will have the flexibility to work remotely out in the field to engage with frontline colleagues and clients when required.

Role Responsibility:

In this critical role you will partner with the business to ensure HR supports the delivery of business objectives and is consistent with the overall SSUK HR and Regional Guarding strategy and Group Standards. In addition you will be responsible for meeting the recruitment demands of the client contract with a need to find innovative and new ways to attract candidates to apply for career opportunities and to develop a longer term retention strategy. You must also have significant experience in employee relations, have confidence to influence business leaders as well as working closely with trade Unions.  

Reporting to the Functional manager within the support department within Northern Ireland and a dotted line to the HR Business Partner for Regional Guarding UK&I, the main responsibilities of this role include:

  • The delivery and monitoring of the HR plan including the centralisation to the new HR model and the implementation of the HR Shared Service centre, creating a culture which supports the achievement of G4S business aims and strategy
  • Working with the Operations Director as a key member of the senior management team, ensuring HR activities are aligned to business objectives
  • Working with clients equivalent HR functions to manage any contractual or HR linked requirements
  • Represent a team of HR, Training, Recruitment resources and act as the key interface between the support function and the Operations team
  • Supporting and advising the  Operational Director and senior team in effective implementation of employee relations, engagement and communication across all operational contracts in conjunction with the HRBP.
  • Devising and implementing an employee recruitment strategy
  • Devising and implementing an employee retention strategy
  • Devising and implementing an Employee Engagement Champion program
  • Supporting Operational Managers and HR Advisors with the management of complex/escalated ER cases, performance management and absence management issues
  • Providing HR support for organisational change, new business and restructuring activity
  • Supporting Operational management and HR Advisors in collective bargaining processes and union relations
  • Liaising with business operational leaders to ensure business development activities are planned and resourced with potential risks identified and escalated, coordinating HR support for mobilisations and demobilisations.
  • Developing, supporting and managing any business wide initiatives ensuring these are embedded effectively
  • Providing support in resource planning and organisational design activities
  • Providing accurate HR management information to drive better insights and decision making across the business
  • Continually drive best practice with employee related issue management
  • Identify local partners, bodies and training partners who may become partners of the business
  • Working with H&S and operational teams to ensure that the appropriate tools are in place and utilised in accordance with both company and legal requirements.

 

 

  • Experience of operating in a complex, commercial, multi-divisional organisation within a matrix environment.
  • Span of control in excess of 600+ employees
  • Detailed understanding of all aspects of HR
  • Proven track record of sustaining recruitment strategies and meeting the needs of a high volume demand model across a complex outsourced client contract
  • Demonstrable track record of devising and implementing successful HR interventions with bottom line contribution
  • Solid and up to date knowledge of practical HR principles and practices and employment legislation
  • Experience of change management implementation.
  • Experience of working in a challenging and fast paced organisation
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels
  • Experience of collating and evaluating data.
  • Flexible with travel to various locations as the needs of the business dictates
  • Educated to degree level or CIPD qualified
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders, a high degree of self-awareness and an aptitude to develop a good understanding of organisational requirements, driving business performance/transformation
  • Good IT skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, email etc
  • Proven track record of managing and developing teams within support functions environment e.g. Training & Recruitment

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo extended security clearance due to the security and sensitivity of sites the role will support.
