Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres, and regions. We work with several government agencies to coordinate metro, train, bus, ferry, light rail, road, and maritime services, always keeping the safety and comfort of our customers at the heart of what we do.

Our Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

4-year fixed term full-time apprenticeship
Obtain a Certificate 3 in Automotive Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology through TAFE
Complete a structured training program
Experience working on repairs and maintenance for trucks, plant, and other commercial vehicles
Opportunity to experience working on different sites and Transport locations
About you
You’re a team player, with a great attitude and hold yourself accountable for doing your best in school, work, and play. You have an interest in mechanics and enthusiastically seek out new opportunities to learn. You have a good grip on your time management and prioritisation skills. You also have:
Completed Year 10 OR hold a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) OR equivalent
Proven basic computer literacy
Possess OR are in the process of obtaining C class drivers licence
You are an Australian/NZ citizen OR an Australian Permanent Resident
You can commence full time employment in January 2023
You are willing to work outside regular working hours if required, as directed by your manager
Understand the role will require you to organise your own transport to the depot, so reliable transport is a must
How much you will earn
You will be paid based on your age (under 21 vs 21 and over) as per the RMS Wages Award. Please see details below of the wage guide:
Heavy Diesel Mechanic Apprentice:
Apprentice 1st Year: $590.80/week ($15.5474/hour)
Adult Apprentice: $ 1090.60/week ($28.70/hour)
