HEB Construction are looking for a Heavy Diesel Field Mechanic to join our team!

The role:

Reporting to the Mechanical Services Manager, you will provide Diesel Mechanical Support for the HEB Plant Division.

This hands-on role, which is based in our facility in Wiri, Auckland will include interaction with multiple areas of the HEB Construction business.

Travel and staying away from home will be required, as HEB Construction operate throughout NZ.

We are looking for a reliable and self-motivated person to:

• Grow and support the Plant Department in the continuing maintenance, improvement and repair of all core business Plant items which will include piling, transport and construction equipment.
• Provide technical support and advice to operations staff.
• Lead in training and mentoring of operatives, tradesmen and apprentices involved in mechanical activities.
• Respond to call outs and provide timely and economic maintenance and repair of plant, equipment, tools.
• Conduct periodic audits of plant, reporting on safety issues, condition issues and general up keep.
• Ensure the quality of workmanship is carried out to a high standard.
• Ensure you identify hazards within job sites, projects, yard, and the team is doing the same.

The Candidate

Our ideal candidate will possess:

• Advanced mechanical knowledge and/or engineering knowledge/experience or qualification
• Practical experience working with associated Construction Equipment
• Experience and/or knowledge of crane/construction industry (preferred)
• Current drivers licence
• Excellent communications skills both written and oral
• Planning and organisational skills
• Ability to relate well with Construction and Mechanical staff at all levels
• Analytical Skills - Mechanical trouble-shooting
• Time management skills
