EDF Renewables UK and Ireland is a subsidiary of EDF Group’s, one of the world’s largest low carbon electricity companies, and our investment and innovation is reducing costs for consumers and bringing significant benefits for communities.
With our operating portfolio of 37 renewable energy sites including battery, onshore and offshore wind (together totalling 1 GW) we are providing much needed affordable, low carbon electricity. We have an expanding portfolio with almost 5 GW of projects in planning and development, including wind, battery and solar PV.
The EDF Renewables Offshore Technical Centre (OTC) will provide support for offshore assets across the full lifecycle from origination to decommissioning. The Head of OTC is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the OTC and providing technical leadership and oversight for offshore activities to the wider EDF Renewables business in a context of rapid growth. EDF Renewables has ambitions to develop, construct and operate 3.5GW of offshore wind by 2035.
We’re at the beginning of something big! As of Head of OTC, you will be in a leadership role working closely with the Chief Technical Officer and other heads of function. This new OTC is central to the successful delivery of value and growth in EDF Renewables’ offshore wind portfolio.
The long term vision for the OTC is to create a centre of excellence and central resource hub for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and HSE activities in the delivery of offshore wind projects to support primarily the EDF Renewables UK and Ireland offshore activities, but also the wider EDF Renewables offshore community.
The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader responsible for building a strong, collaborative and positive working culture among the OTC and with the other business functions.
You will develop and maintain relationships across EDF Renewables in the UK, and the wider EDF Group.
In addition, through the lens of technical excellence and continued improvement there will be a need to to build, develop and own external relationships with offshore supply chain, relevant offshore industry bodies, technical standards organisations, academia/research bodies in order to enhance, promote, and protect our activity and brand.
You’ll have experience of this (or a very similar role) within offshore in addition to proven, diligent leadership skills coupled with a successful background in delivering projects/programmes, establishing and maintaining relationships and maintaining a safe environment, managing priorities and inspiring and influencing behaviours and actions.
It’s highly desirable that you have a demonstrable proficient technical record within the Renewables sector with an Engineering disciplined background.
