Job Description Summary

To lead a growing, technical and empowered team: partnering with the business to ensure that IT change, including the implementation of new technologies, is done safely. You will use your practical experience of leading or assuring delivery in a relevant technology / technology risk function covering a variety of key skills areas such as: emerging technologies, digital architecture & IT engineering. New technologies continually evolve and hence the role holder must continually upskill themselves and the team. Current focus is on cloud technologies, AI, data science, blockchain and next generation networks (including SD WAN).

  • Has a thirst to improve yourself, embrace new challenges and work flexibly. You maintain an understanding of technology innovation as it emerges and evolves.
  • Can lead a team of risk and technology professionals with diverse skills and experience. Optimally managing resource and delivery plans, and working collaboratively across the Risk Division. You are also an inspiring, motivational, and empowering coach, mentoring and constantly developing your team’s capabilities!
  • Loves to use data to assess how the Group manages the risks from IT change, challenging and advising on decision making. Taking a forward view of how decisions on introduction of new technologies into the Bank can improve the effectiveness of risk management. Of particular interest is public cloud adoption, in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Is recognised by peers as a highly capable technology subject matter expert, and has strong practical experience of leading or providing oversight of IT change delivery. Having a clear understanding of the business context of Technology Change and how this supports the delivery of business strategy.
  • Understands what good risk management looks like and can clearly opine on its adoption in a technology context, using excellent communication and influencing skills, at all levels up to and including the Board.
