We are looking for a Principal level technical architect to lead our Platform team covering Open-Source big data technologies, security, reliability, scale, and usability. In this role you will architect, build, and execute products and strategies for driving adoption of Azure HDInsight amongst new and existing customers. The opportunities to significantly impact the team, Azure, Microsoft, and the industry are practically limitless. 

Responsibilities

• Architect and build cloud scale products with focus on efficiency, reliability, security, and usability 
• Develop roadmap and vision by listening to customers, studying the evolution of OSS technologies, and watching competitor moves 
• Drive platform enhancements, and timely platform release cycles. 

• Engage with developer community to identify opportunities, enable adoption, and eliminate friction in usage 
• Helping evolve engineering practices & principles that marry the flexibility of open source and fast pace of service world.   
• Drive the API and integration strategy to enable integration of HDInsight seamlessly into the Enterprise ecosystem 
• Engage with customer escalations and mitigate risks on the product roadmap, ahead of time. 
• Evangelize HDInsight to drive adoption through community engagement, industry events and user forums 

Qualifications

• B.Tech or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.  
• 12+ years of experience in the technology industry with solid architectural experience. 
• Familiarity with Open-Source Big Data technologies like Spark, Hive, Kafka, HBase etc. 
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically, with a strong bias for action 

• The ability to wear many hats, learn quickly and change direction when needed 
• Proven track record of developing products in an agile development environment across several teams 
• Self-starter who is constantly curious and looking for ways to improve the product and team efficiencies
