Job Description

What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

GPU Compute Performance Modeling Engineer

The Role:

AMD is firing on all cylinders on our exciting Radeon Gaming and Compute GPU roadmaps. A key need for building these best-in-class SoCs is to develop high-level performance models that are light weight, yet flexible and accurate. These models directly impact the product definition and roadmap, and are relied on for making very consequential business decisions.

The Person:

The Radeon Power and Performance Group is looking for an enthusiastic computer architect to work on our unique bottleneck based performance model, correlate it with silicon, fine tune it for different SoC configurations and drive future improvements. The successful candidate will work in a small team, and bring a can-do attitude, whether they are coding GPU hardware features into the model, working in the lab running traces on the GPU and gathering HW performance counters data, or building the infrastructure to process the data and regress the model.

Key Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in Processor Architecture, Modeling or Hardware verification
  • Strong C/C++, C#, Python coding skills are required
  • Experience working in a HW lab will be valuable
  • Background in GPU or parallel processing architecture is desirable
  • Background in data engineering or statistical modeling is a plus
  • Knowledge of GPU drivers and compute platforms like ROCm or CUDA is a plus
  • Web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) will be a plus

Education

BS/MS/PhD in CS, EE or equivalent
