Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineer

Needham Market

£25000 - £60000 DOE

Monday-Friday, 9am-17:30pm with a 60 minute lunch

Based in the heart of Suffolk, my client is a well-established Geotechnical Engineering company that specialises in contaminated land, focusing on Site Investigation, Environmental Assessments and Laboratory Analysis. Due to continued expansion within their organisation they are expanding and now have a very exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineer to join their team.

You role here will be to undertake and manage ground investigation and contaminated land projects within the Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Division. Also to make a significant contribution to the report writing capability of the department.

In addition, your daily tasks will include;

• Planning, organising, and supervising intrusive investigations

• Undertaking fieldwork

• Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data

• Preparing factual and interpretative reports

• Ensuring projects keep to budget and timescale

• Liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors

• Utilising specialist computer applications

The ideal candidate for this role will be motivated and flexible with good team working, communication, analytical, organisation, and problem-solving skills. Up to date IT skills are also essential in order to carry out the duties effectively.

You will be able to ideally demonstrate experience in the following areas;

• Desk Study Preparation

• Human Health Risk Assessment

• Waste Classification

• Groundwater Risk Assessment

• Ground Gas Risk Assessment

• Ground Investigation

• Foundation Assessment

• Factual and Interpretative Report Preparation

And your key skills and qualifications will include;

• A BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Geology, Civil Engineering or related fields, although other qualifications will be considered

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong attention to detail, discipline, care and focus

• Experience of soil and rock logging to current standards

• Project management and organisational skills

This is a full time, permanent position working Monday-Friday, 9am-17:30pm with a 60 minute lunch. The salary is negotiable dependant on experience and ability. This role includes both office and site-based activities and consequently a UK driving licence will be required. A car allowance could potentially be included depending on the level of experience.
