George Online Development Expert - 18 months Fixed Term Contract

Future is the name for the programme that will see Asda create its new operating model, and is one of the most exciting transformation opportunities in the UK today. Technology transformation is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious parts of this work as decisions made will underpin the way the entire business will operate in the future. We are seeking an online development expert to champion George in the creation of our eCommerce and omnichannel future capabilities.

Your Role:

• The role is focused on our future platform and working with both internal George, Asda Grocery Home Shopping, Asda Tech colleagues, and other internal stakeholder groups as well as external vendors and 3rd parties.
• The role will initially focus on the Future Programme and ensuring that George.com transitions seamlessly from Walmart provided components onto Asda owned or contracted alternatives.
• As we go through that process our goals will be to ensure business performance (and model) continuity or improvement, whilst seeking to unlock new capabilities especially in Omnichannel as we transition onto new tech.
• The role will be to champion our George customers and business ensuring we represent strong, clear and accurate current capabilities and future needs, getting the best results for both.
• The role will work closely and collaboratively across Asda and with external vendors, seeking out new opportunities, highlighting, inspiring and supporting the delivery of key transitions and complimentary out of the box step changes opportunities for George and across Asda.
• The role should also have a clear focus beyond the Future programme, be aligned to delivering the Omnichannel Vision for George as part of Asda, and help determine, define, and deliver our target platform and operating models in support of the 5 year business strategy and plan.
• The role will be responsible in leading or supporting (as appropriate), in vendor engagement, selection, negotiation, contracting, resourcing and set-up of George platform specific capability and on shared capabilities.

About You:

• We are seeking an experienced ecommerce or omnichannel development expert.
• You will have existing knowledge and experience of ecommerce and/or omnichannel capabilities and systems.
• You will be fast to learn and adapt to new context, so that you can learn and represent our current systems and future needs as a subject matter expert.
• You will be highly collaborative and be able to demonstrate collaborative delivery on complex technical products, services or programmes.
• Whilst being very technically minded it will be key that you can represent the customer and business needs and display commercial acumen.
• Ideally you will have demonstrable experience of leading and managing a 3rd party vendor, and both internal and external development and delivery teams.
