Description
The General Accountant ensures the organization’s accounting activities are performed in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
Working in coordination with the Service Manager, the position is responsible for ensuring all client related billing and collections are performed in a manner that optimizes company cash flow – prompt, accurate invoicing of jobs on completion, accurate billing of recurring credit charge charges, processing of customer payments and appropriate, regular, pro-active follow-up on overdue accounts.
The role is responsible for ensuring purchase orders are placed on a timely basis, vendor invoices are entered promptly and accurately, vendor payments and other remittances are made in accordance with agreed payment terms or as directed by management and vendor inquiries are handled in a professional, courteous manner.
The position is responsible for processing company payrolls in QuickBooks in line with the payment schedules in a manner that provides employees with confidence that their data is treated confidentially and their paycheck is always accurate with appropriate deductions made and clear explanations provided on payroll-related questions.
The company needs to maintain a position of good standing with tax authorities which requires the General Accountant to ensure remittances and filings of all types are accurate and on time.
On a monthly basis the General Accountant is expected to close the books in a timely manner to provide a current picture of financial performance to the owners. This will include performing bank reconciliations, bank and third-party credit card entry and reconciliation, inter-company account reconciliations, accrual entries, etc.
The General Accountant works with the Service Manager to ensure the accuracy of the Company’s inventory, including regular review of re-order points, physical inventory counts, placement of PO’s to replenish stock, tracking of returns and follow-up on inventory issues.

Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 5-10 years accounting/bookkeeping experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise version
Preferred:
College diploma in business/accounting
Experience with project-based businesses and recurring revenue models
An asset:
CPA – full or part qualified
