Robert Half is recruiting for a General Accountant with a diverse and inclusive organization that is a leader in the engineering, manufacturing & construction industry. Position is full time, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Complete bank reconciliations using cash management program.
- Calculate and post gain/loss on foreign exchange.
- Reconcile goods and services tax (GST) and provincial sales tax (PST) and prepare for submission
- Assist with preparation and or submission of various miscellaneous and regulatory reporting requirements as needed such as CRA programs and surveys, provincial and municipal reporting, annual/periodic renewals, etc.
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts as requested (intercompany accounts, accounts receivable miscellaneous, prepaid other, fixed assets, lease receivable, professional fees payable, other accruals payable, equipment loans, finance contracts payable, etc.).
- Enter and post journal entries.
- Assist external auditors by providing backup documentation and answers to queries when requested.
- Prepare deposit slips for bank deposits.
- Processing A/R transactions and maintaining customer records in SAGE 300 Construction and Real Estate including but not limited to: entering invoices, recording receipt of payments, reconciling foreign exchange, setting up new customers and updating job invoice summaries.
- Assist with month-end reconciliations and prepare journal entries as required.
- Assist A/P with general inquiries and gain familiarity with workflow to be able to help with overflow as needed
- Update and complete journal entries for fixed asset schedule.
- Maintain accurate electronic filing system for accounting related information.
- Become an effective user of the accounting system “Sage 300 Construction & Real Estateâ€.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of related experience in Accounting.
- Understanding of financial metrics.
- Have a good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel including experience building formulas and pivot tables as well as pulling and manipulating large volumes of data.
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
- Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, Excel and Teams), Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Sage Paperless Construction and other accounting/time keeping software.
- Experience specifically with SAGE 300 Construction and Real Estate is considered an asset but not required.
