Description

Vodafone is embarking on a global transformation of data & analytics, leveraging innovative capabilities of google cloud and are looking for a technical delivery leader to play a key role in enabling this large-scale delivery. You’ll be accountable for all technical aspects of implementing our next generation BI and analytics platform (Nucleus) on GCP, at a group-wide level. 

The role will take a lead in solving common problems with a generic solution design, and oversee specific implementations of that design in local markets across the EU. Given the size of Vodafone’s global footprint, you’ll need to consider scale and cost in many aspects of designs.

You’ll work with business stakeholders such as the Analytics Center of Excellence, project delivery lead, local market software development teams, partners such as google, and external consultants, to effectively plan and complete the delivery of new components of our BI platform. You will leverage your engineering skills and knowledge to lead design discussions, set the bar for best practices, unblock technical issues, and adhere to GCP and Vodafone architecture best practices to execute our technology strategy, while ensuring that relevant engineering teams stick to processes you define, and deliver work on time.

Job Responsibility

Key accountabilities and decision ownership: 

•    End to end solution design for data integration, including ingestion, transformations, and orchestration, in daily batch, micro batches and near-real-time modes.
•    Designing and implementing modern, scalable data architectures
•    Responsible for analysing and translating both business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints.
•    Deliver high level and low level designs, including infrastructure and security views
•    Technical delivery planning and integration with programme management
•    Assessment and development feedback for dotted reporting team(s)
•    Liaise and coordinate cloud BI programme technical implementations with in-house teams and external service integrator.    

Essential core competencies, knowledge and experience:

•    Varied, real world experience in designing architecture for, and using GCP.
•    Knowledge and experience with GCP big data tools, such as DataFusion, Dataproc, Cloud Functions, Composer, PubSub, or similar equivalents.
•    Strong experience in designing warehouse structures and analysing data in BigQuery.
•    Strong knowledge and experience with BI processes and tools, including modelling and semantic data layers.
•    Decent knowledge of Java and Python preferred, or similar
•    Good knowledge and experience with application CI/CD, and all aspects of modern software delivery lifecycle.

Desirable technical qualifications: 

•    Certified Google Cloud Data Engineer
•    Certified Google Cloud Architect
•    Other similar demonstrable skills
•    Demonstrable security experience
•    Demonstrable skills using infrastructure provisioning tools
