Principal AI Engineer/Scientist  

THE ROLE: 

 As an engineer at AMD, you will work with some of the brightest minds in the world to develop industry leading algorithms, software and hardware, resulting in highly desired high-performance computing, rendering and gaming systems.  

As an AI engineer/scientist in this team, you will work on designing, developing and deploying novel Artificial Intelligence solutions to diverse real-world problems, e.g., bringing real-time AI to gamers, streamers, and content creators, NLP, CV, speech, text, recommendation, neural rendering etc. You will drive the development of real-time AI technologies to push the boundaries of gaming, streaming, virtual reality, storytelling and beyond, bringing great impact to billions of AMD customers.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop and deploy ML algorithms to build breakthrough applications, e.g.: 3D avatar digital human, photorealistic rendering and animation, video synthesis.
  • Develop ideas for new algorithms, or adapt existing algorithms to enable interaction experiences, nearly indistinguishable from in-person interactions.
  • Identify emerging ML algorithms and technologies for gaming systems and content creation, better gaming experiences
  • Profile and analyze ML algorithms to identify the performance limitations; Identify and evaluate the pros and cons of different architecture decisions.
  • Push the frontier of ML R&D -- collaborate with diverse teams of scientists, software engineers and compute architects.

  
THE PERSON: 

  • Solid understanding and demonstrated experience with Deep Learning frameworks e.g., Pytorch, JAX, TensorFlow, Keras
  • Passionate about ML for gaming, social AR/VR, creative art, etc.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and great interpersonal skills
  • Expert software engineering skills in Python and/or C++
  • Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms, computer architecture 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Experience of shipping software product  advantageous 
  • Experience in optimizing ML inference performance
  • Game development, AR/VR development experience advantageous. 
  • Experience in developing plug-ins for Unity/Unreal Engine, etc. Advantageous. 
  • Development experience with fastai and nbdev

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • MSEE, PHD
