This is a critical role requiring you to manage the safety for one of our largest Major Hazardous facilities in Australia. We are seeking a passionate safety manager who enjoys coaching and partnering with the operations teams to bring about mutually positive business outcomes. Having renewed a 5 yr. license in 2022, your role will be to ensure business compliance and operational adherence of the safety case, drive the proactive implementation and continual improvement of the HSE culture, and support the warehouse storage and transport operations.

This is a role that will actively collaborate with site senior leadership to understand their business goals and form a respected partnership and will have overarching support from your sector lead and the broader HSE Team. Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of MHF sites, Safety cases and/or Dangerous Goods operations, however, if you have the knowledge but lack the hands-on MHF exp please apply and demonstrate your curiosity and capacity to learn and bridge any gaps.

As the HSE Manager - Major Hazard Facility you will:

• Oversite of all site safety incidents and investigations and build relationships with all site personnel.
• Manage the Safety Case documentations and coach/guide the operations team to ensure adherence.
• Guide the implementation of monitoring and reporting on compliance against the safety case.
• Provide HSE oversight of the warehouse storage and transport operations through liaising with operators and conducting MHF control performance review/ validation.
• Coordinate and facilitate risk assessments using Risk Analysis techniques and tools
• Maintenance of Site HSE related procedures including the site Emergency Response
• Identifying and interpreting legal requirements and providing operational advice and guidance to manage risks and ensure compliance to relevant legislative requirements and Standards, including MHF, HSE and ADG.

Qualifications

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Min 3 years in a safety role and ideally within an MHF site or D&G environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Practical experience in the development and management of safety cases is preferred or the capacity to learn this. 
• Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (AS4801, ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, etc).
• Dangerous Goods and Auditing qualifications/ training are desirable.
• Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders including Regulators.
