We're looking for a Financial Planning Analyst for Wellington City Council's Financial Planning Team - at a crucial time for the city and region.

We are in the first year of the Council's 2021-31 Long-term Plan - it outlines the strategy and all the projects and services that aim to give a big boost to the region's economy, whilst continuing to deliver core services well and provide a high quality of life for Wellington's residents.

As a Financial Planning Analyst, you will assist in the budgeting process and play a crucial role to ensure the Council's varied Business Units' financial planning is robust. This is a great role in which to learn and develop within the council's financial engine room.

You'll be able to confidently:

• Communicate with managers and external stakeholders
• Manage large Council wide processes in an organised manner
• Give frank and timely advice on a range of financial matters to the business units, CFO and the management team
• Work with and manage complex financial models
• Analyse consolidated financial budgets
• Get familiar with the Councils' bewildering array of roles - think events, cemeteries, housing, parks, roads, rubbish, swimming pools, water supply (if it happens in Wellington, we're probably involved in some way).

We want someone who can see the big picture, but who's also a devil for detail. You'll have proven experience within financial planning, financial systems and budgetary reporting - along with financial modelling skills. You will also understand the processes and inter-relationships of data within financial systems. And you'll preferably be a member of CAANZ or working towards it.
