Reporting to the Director, Accounting Services, the Financial Analyst is responsible for account reconciliation, events settlements, and other analytical reports. Prepare monthly accounting and reporting for parking departments billings and collections, general ledger account analysis and financial reports. On a monthly basis, co-ordinate with the City and Operations department the preparation and reconciliation of reserve accounts.

Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations including analysis of parking revenue and reserve accounts.
  • Prepare for review monthly departmental and divisional budgets and reports.
  • Prepare event settlements and respond to show management and exhibitors related to billing inquiries.
  • Prepare period ending closing entries and parking bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare year-end audit working papers and notes.
  • Assist staff with the preparation of the annual capital budget and submission to the City of Toronto.
  • Perform general ledger accounts analysis and analyze budget variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, notes and other year-end working papers.
  • Assist in the implementation of internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Progressing towards achieving Chartered Professional Accountants designation (CPA) or is currently a CPA.
  • Accounting and financial reporting experience in a computerized environment.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of software packages (word processing, advanced spreadsheets, database, and electronic mail). Experience with Great Plains is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, practices, financial analysis, and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to handle confidential documents and reports.
