We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accounting Manager - Reporting position to join our growing Finance team. This is an incredibly exciting time to join Wickes as we embark on this journey as a Plc.
The purpose of this role is to support external financial statement preparation together with assuring technical accounting compliance and a robust financial control framework to meet plc board, audit committee and external audit requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
To help deliver a set of financial statements for interim and full year reporting, in compliance with IFRS and best practice
Manage the monthly operational accounting and ledger close process and subsequent balance sheet reconciliation review processes. Responsible for ensuring plc related transactions are correctly booked (leases, share based payments, interest, tax, dividends)
Ensure processes are in place to assure compliance with accounting standards in particular relating to share based remunerations schemes and lease accounting
Manage the operation of the Working Capital model, which in turn drives the preparation the monthly financial statements for the plc pack and production of balance sheet and cash flow projections
Build relationships within finance, the wider business (Commercial, Operations, Investor Relations, CoSec, HR) and with advisors to obtain a better understanding of the company’s activities
Coordinate staff and provide training and feedback as required, leading technical accounting CPD requirements across the finance function
Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for all legal entities within Wickes plc Group
Assist the Head of Reporting in maintaining an accounting policies and procedures manual, detailing key accounting policies and their application in the business
Identify any control and systems issues and propose actions to strengthen areas lacking in good controls, in particular relating to processes impacting the preparation of the financial statements
What are we looking for:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA (Essential)
More likely ACA given technical bias of the role
5+yrs pqe experience
Experience of listed plc reporting (Essential)
Broad finance experience in a listed plc environment
Thorough understanding /experience of listed company reporting requirements
Ability to promote strong control environments and recommend system improvements
Ability to communicate technically challenging issues in a simple yet effective and engaging manner
Team leadership and development
Thorough understanding of accounting standards and developments
Best practice approach to financial reporting
