The finance team supports the business to create, validate and interpret its financial results to understand whether we are on track to meet our strategic goals. Our deep understanding of business operations and products are integral to the success of being able to produce relevant financial information.
We’re accountable for the production of monthly and annual financial accounts that meet internal and external audit requirements. Using our expertise as finance professionals, we operate a robust governance and controls environment, and challenge ourselves to continuously improve to minimise the financial risks that the business faces.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance System team acts as the interface between the wider Finance teams, third party providers, technology function and business to ensure the smooth support and maintenance of financial production services.
About the Role
As Finance Systems Manager you will be accountable for financial control of the business through strong governance and controls, technical knowledge and financial understanding of the finance systems. With a change focus you will lead the team to develop capabilities, standardise processes and implement improvements in the daily operation of the Finance System that drive efficiencies in the production of financial information, whilst implementing the strategic Finance Systems vision.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that financial information held within the Finance Systems is at all times complete and structured appropriately for use by the business to meet statutory reporting requirements and drive strategic decision making.
Key Accountabilities
Define chart of account business rules and maintain system configuration & documentation, ensuring that all configurations are consistently maintained.
Ensure integrity of Business and data migrations and their clean integration into existing financial period-end processes, timescales and controls.
Manage the financial reporting tools to manage the timely distribution of customised and routine financial reports that provide insight and support decision making.
Responsible for the integrity of all data in the core finance system ledger and the consistent, accurate recording of information into the reporting systems through the management of month end and year end processes, to allow transparency of performance across all business units.
Manage administration control of finance systems and data, ensuring user access is secure, up-to-date and meets functional and audit requirements. Liaise with External Audit regarding Systems and Financial Audits.
Establish processes and workflows to ensure the flow of data from other systems and data providers is maintained in a timely fashion
Act as a superuser for the finance system, providing support to all departments across the business to utilise the system to its maximum capability.
Lead the business through change and process improvement where finance systems are an enabler to success. Bring new ideas to the table to solve old and new problems. Operates as part of cross functional teams to deliver successful outcomes. (E.g. business acquisition, product roll out, server upgrades)
Accountable for the 1st line support of all users by triage, resolving user/system issues.
Manage routine, operational support of key systems, ensuring they are functioning securely, reliably and effectively working
Develop & maintain a tight controls environment relating to security, access & data integrity, ensuring appropriate training is provided to all users of the Financial Systems.
Own the relationship with the system providers to ensure the system is working and updated as required. Work with appropriate parties to resolve issues & problems
Lead a team of 3 technical expert, supporting their development and offering guidance:
Represent the Finance Systems team in all aspects of the Dynamics 365 implementation to support the design & development of the new finance system
Experience Required
Extensive finance knowledge & experience to be able to review and replace current finance systems
Previous experience maintaining and developing a commercial ERP or EPM financial system
Proven track record of being able to deliver complex projects on time
Stakeholder management at all levels of an organisation, delivering services within SLA
Experience supporting an accounting function, with a good understanding of transaction processing, finance & management reporting and consolidation
Strong interest in technology and data and looking to combine your finance skills with technology
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Attention to detail with ‘completer-finisher’ and problem solver mentality
Ability to manage own workload including the prioritisation of tasks
Desirable
A professional accounting qualification or part qualification, e.g. ACCA, CIMA or ACA would be beneficial
Experience in a Finance Technology environment (ideally Dynamics AX, Dynamics 365, or equivalent)
Dynamics AX (Modules: General Ledger, Cash Management, Fixed Asset, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, and Accounts Payable).
Hyperion (HFM / HDM)
Precision Point
Knowledge and use of Power Platform applications, such as PowerBI would be advantageous
PL/SQL Skills.
Advanced Excel skills, and ability write and maintain macros would be a benefit
