To help us on this journey we are seeking a Finance Operations Associate to join our passionate and collaborative team.
We operate the UK’s largest venue marketplace, which hosts over 6,000 venues and is used by over 2 million prospective event planners each year. Our clients include Google, Facebook, Red Bull, UNICEF, and Dr. Martens. We have built a reputation for delivering world-class virtual events and are the force behind the largest virtual Xmas party of 2020.

Role
As a Finance and Operations Manager you’ll work closely with the CEO/CFO to create financial processes that scale with the business as we grow. You’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the business operations, and the scaling of systems and processes which allow the company to thrive and to achieve its vision of becoming the most widely-used events resource globally.
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function at Hire Space including all the internal finance functions, and managing the credit control process and payables, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, the process is followed and targets are met.
Ultimately you’ll be at the forefront of building a fantastic business that scales with our growth and allows the company to achieve its bold objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal Finance
- Ensuring that payroll is executed correctly and on time each month
- Managing employee pension contributions and opt ins/outs
- Cost control, including purchase controls, managing employee expenses
Credit Control and Payables
- Managing our client monies account, including making payments on behalf of key clients and providing them with consolidated invoicing
- Project managing and all escalations from the credit control function
- Managing daily bank reconciliations
- End-to-end management of our payables system, including approval of purchase orders, matching with bills sent by suppliers, and processing of weekly batch payments
Performance measured on:
- Monthly cash in target
- Monthly billing target
- Feedback from clients suppliers on management of payables
- Company adherence to budgets
- Qualitative feedback in quarterly team survey re: salary/expenses etc.
Key collaborations:
- CEO/CFO for overview, direction and support
- Collaboration with external accountants on VAT returns and month / year end finance processes
- Seasonal support on credit control from a Credit Control Associate
- Team leads on internal systems and processes
You should apply if you:
- 3 years of experience in a finance role
- Working knowledge of UK PAYE and VAT
- Experience using an online accounting package
- Experience managing accounts receivable and payables
- Highly organised and process-driven
- High level of attention to detail and sharp at recalling facts
- Self-starting and proactive in improving processes
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good Excel/Google Sheets knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently
It would be a bonus if:
- Experience using Xero
- Experience in MI reporting and analysis
- Experience managing others to work towards targets
- Experience using Airtable
