We are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our Aviva Finance Operations (“AFOâ€) team on a 12-month FTC basis.
Responsibilities will relate specifically to Aviva International Insurance Limited (the “Mixerâ€), an internal reinsurance company writing both Life and General Insurance business and playing a pivotal role in the success of Aviva by supporting the business to achieve targeted financial returns and maintaining the confidence of our shareholders and regulators.
Job Description
The role covers of a wide range of financial reporting areas – including statutory (IFRS) and regulatory (Solvency II) reporting, performance analysis, expense reporting and more. There is exposure to the financial aspects of Life and General Insurance businesses across the Aviva Group, providing an excellent opportunity for candidates keen to experience both sides. The varied nature of the role ensures you will develop strong internal networks as you interact regularly with different reporting teams (in AFO and local markets) and functional areas. You will work as part of a close-knit and effective team, with the opportunity to really understand the end-to-end processes for Mixer and develop specialist reinsurance knowledge.
Role Responsibilities
Annual statutory accounts – key role in managing system data flows and ensuring the integrity of numbers presented through the narrative reporting tool. Engaging stakeholders as part of the pre-cycle planning exercise. Supporting with auditor requests
IFRS performance analysis – own underlying workings and consolidation of reinsured results to populate quarterly board materials. Maintain an understanding of what is expected to be within the reported numbers, following up with the right people where variances are identified, or further clarification is required
Solvency II reporting – support the team in meeting all regulatory/ Pillar3 reporting requirements
Expense management – responsibility for monthly journals across all Mixer cost centres, including the calculation of complex finance costs associated with external bank arrangements
Monthly ledger close – support the preparation of monthly journals for the non-insurance elements of Mixer
Finance change – support as required whilst the reporting landscape is refreshed to ensure readiness for IFRS17, including the implementation of a new Group consolidation tool
Risk & controls – operate and evidence controls associated with the role’s responsibilities, supporting the maintenance of iCare records and EUC documentation
Skills and Experience
Knowledgeable, probably qualified, accountant with experience of working in financial services
Strong practical accounting capabilities and working with complex finance systems
Good communication and interpersonal skills including ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
Good analytical skills and willingness to question the numbers and follow through on issues
Strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and work without supervision
Strong controls focus to avoid financial misstatement and messaging errors

Salary circa £45,000 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
