The Job

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and results driven individual to join our existing field service team in the capacity of Field Service Technician. This role will be based out of our Auckland branch and will report to the Field Service Supervisor. The primary objective of the role will be to conduct service and diagnostic activities across the entire Penske New Zealand product range for both on and off-highway applications predominantly within the Upper North Island area. This will include customers in the marine, rail, power gen and heavy equipment industries. This is a full time permanent position typically working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some flexibility is required to work longer hours, along with some travel out of town. A competitive hourly rate and access to a tool of the trade vehicle form part of the package.

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for:

  • Completing diverse field service work including the diagnosis, servicing and repairs of a range of machinery and equipment within the upper North Island regions
  • Fault finding and rectifying hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
  • Providing technical assistance to a wide range of customers
  • Completing job card and warranty paperwork as per company guidelines
  • Assist with the ongoing development and training of other Penske technicians in order to extend their abilities
  • Maintaining and replacing electrical and mechanical components

About You

In order to be successful in this role, you will offer:

  • Trade Qualification - diesel mechanic, electrical engineer or similar
  • Previous experience within the heavy transport and/or industrial engine industries
  • Sound knowledge and experience working with diesel engines; ideally MTU, Detroit, Cummins and CAT product lines
  • An ability to model safe operating practices and adhere to company safety guidelines and expectations
  • An ability to understand and grasp technical product information and provide product resolution
  • The confidence to develop outstanding relationships with a range of customers, and represent the Penske brand with high levels of professionalism
  • A passionate, sociable and engaging personality
  • An ability to think differently and to consistently deliver on customer service
  • Resilience, determination and high standards of work
