What you do at AMD changes everything
At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible. We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.
Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile†to achieve unthinkable results. It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world. If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Signal Integrity Engineering provides electrical modeling, simulation, and characterization services for the design of high-speed signal propagation and power delivery networks in AMD products. The Signal Integrity Engineering team is also in charge of package and board level design rules for high-speed interconnects and power delivery in all AMD CPU and GPU products. High speed interconnects include interfaces such as GDDR, DDR, USB, PCIE, etc.
JOB PURPOSE
The Signal Integrity Engineering team is essential to the success of AMD. We develop electrical design rules for high-speed signal paths between IC’s and power delivery paths to IC’s. The team works with package and board level designers to ensure all design rules are met and interfaces can run reliably at targeted speeds across different process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) conditions. We are engaged in new industry technology development as well as in leading edge electrical design analysis (EDA) tool development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be generating electrical models and performing Monte Carlo simulations using AMD Electrical Design Analysis (EDA) tool for the design of GDDR memory interface in AMD GPU products.
You will work with senior signal integrity engineers to analyze data and work with AMD GPU package designers and GPU board designers to optimize their design.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of electronic circuits and components, as well as understanding how to interpret waveforms captured with an oscilloscope.
The candidate should be comfortable with basic scripting (i.e., Python) to automate simulation scripts and to analyze data.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
You will have the opportunity to work with the very best in the industry. You will learn how engineering projects are defined and executed. You will learn how engineering teams work together to solve complex technical questions on budget and on schedule. You will learn how to use leading edge commercial electrical engineering EDA tools and more importantly, you will learn how to interpret the data. This position provides an excellent opportunity for the candidate to learn about transmission line theory and other signal integrity fundamentals to pursue a career in system/board level or chip package design
