The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Head Chef. Your responsibilities will include:

  • To display exceptional leadership by providing a positive motivational work environment,
  • communicating with employees as appropriate and demonstrating a professional approach to management.
  • To oversee and provide direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the kitchen brigade, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. 
  • To schedule and co-ordinate the work of the kitchen brigade to ensure that food presentation is technically correct, and of outstanding food quality 
  • Maintain the safety of self and others at all times and report any accidents or dangerous occurrences immediately to the Home Manager.
  • To demonstrate sound financial/business decision making, and work within pre- determined budgets ensuring operational needs and objectives are met. To ensure all food costs and labour are managed within the catering budgetTo develop seasonal and bespoke Menus by analyse and evaluate Resident’s needs and requirements as well as feedback from Resident’s families and relatives

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for someone who believes in working together as part of a team, who shares our values and who is positive and friendly. The successful candidate will:

  • Experience of working as a Head Chef within a High end Care home establishment or similar environment (or Nursing Home)Knowledge of catering for the elderly and the important of nutrition and fortified diets where appropriate.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery (awarded by ASET and City and Guilds) or 706 1/2
  • Team and department management
  • Stock management, Stocktaking, product ordering and accountability
  • COSHH ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health’ trained and HASSAP aware
  • Excellent Working knowledge of H&S legislation and Level 2/3 Food Safety Ceritficate
  • Demonstrate good communications skills at all levels.
