About this role

The Environmental Sustainability Manager for our Consumer unit will support in developing the Consumer environmental sustainability strategy in alignment with the Manifesto plans and drive its execution in Consumer, which reaches nearly 30m people through our BT, EE and Plusnet products and services. 

This role will report into the Digital Impact and Sustainability Director, Consumer and form part of the Consumer Corporate Affairs team.

This role will have a dotted line to the Senior Manager, Circularity as part of the Group Environmental Sustainability Team to ensure alignment between the Group and Consumer strategy and activity.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Work with the Digital Impact and Sustainability Director, Consumer and Group Environmental Sustainability team to develop and implement the Consumer sustainably strategy in line with the Manifesto plans and BT’s other climate and environment goals

Form part of the Consumer Corporate Affairs Director's team who will also direct this role as well as align with the overall agenda for Consumer.

Partner with Consumer functional teams, including devices, proposition development, commercial, brand, marketing, customer communications, to embed sustainability into functional strategies and drive implementation. Also working closely with Consumer suppliers on sustainability, including innovation challenges.

Lead the Consumer Environmental Sustainably working group.

Work closely with proposition development and devices teams to develop action plans and support implementation activities to meet BT’s new circular economy commitments, moving from linear to circular business models and products.

Develop carbon / circular economy (including plastics and e-waste) analysis to support action and decision making.

Input to Board/executive committee content 

Develop and launch Group-wide metrics / KPIs and data for Consumer.

Represent Digital Impact and Sustainability at BT’s internal product stewardship forum and other for a as appropriate.

Be responsible for the Environmental strategy for Consumer - aligned to Group plans - with Consumer Director and Corporate Affairs Director Consumer.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Strong technical environmental sustainably knowledge, including circular economy.

Strong business acumen and commercial awareness. 

Programme / project management experience.

Effective communicator and influencer who builds strong relationships and champions environmental sustainability change and action. 

Excels at managing multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and drives.
