Job Description
Purpose of role:
Reporting into the Head of Transformation in the Strategy & Transformation Office, the Enterprise Change Manager will be responsible for driving organisational readiness for change across Primark. This role will ensure that change initiatives across the business meet their objectives by assessing planned impact, preparing communities effectively and creating long term embedding strategies as appropriate.
The Enterprise Change Manager will oversee the change pipelines for the different parts of the business, to partner with major functions to improve planning, preparation and readiness for significant strategic programme implementations. This role is also responsible for the creation of the COE of how Primark plans, lands and builds change capability across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Transformation
- Part of Transformation Leadership Team, working alongside Enterprise Portfolio Manager, Transformation Team and Head of Transformation to develop and deliver the Purpose and Roadmap for Transformation function
- Design of approach, diagnostics and engagement on future of Transformation function including business feedback
- Organisational development support of Transformation including creation of Transformation Framework to drive consistency and incorporate all elements of future capabilities (programme delivery, change, prioritisation and capacity planning.)
- Create and deliver capability plan to support new Framework and Way of Working
- Assess, analyse needs and plan for organisational change programmes to address changing business priorities and operating needs
Change Approach (COE)
- Develop the strategy and design the approach for planning and delivery of change across Primark
- Design and introduce Primark change management methodology and principles, including future focused evaluation techniques and maximising organisational readiness for change
- Create Primark Transformation capability approach to enable our Future Amazing strategy including use of aligned tools that will facilitate embedding and adoption across the teams
- Throughout all change programmes, define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress; focusing on embedding the change and business accountability
- Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities across the business
- Embed and embrace our culture of change across Primark using models, frameworks, tools and techniques while coaching leaders and colleagues in adapting these techniques
- Build and maintain a network of change resources across the business to facilitate best practice sharing, barriers to embedding and synergies
Change Capability
- Develop change leadership at senior levels to optimise role of executive sponsor and accountable leaders
- Design and build change capability within function and across the business, coaching leaders and colleagues in adoption of these techniques
- Creation of Change Management support materials to enable change at multiple levels and develop as core skill (e.g. Change Toolkit or Playbook)
- Provide direct support and coaching to all levels of managers and supervisors as they help their direct reports through transitions.
Change Impact Pipeline
- Create and oversee a portfolio view of change impacts, work in conjunction with strategic planning functions to advise on impact of multiple projects across the colleagues and business, e.g. Change Impact Assessment, Training Needs Analysis, Comms, climate and capacity analysis
- Advise on international navigation, providing cross border activation expertise (e.g. Works Council, translation process, localisation)
- Working in partnership with P&C and others to review resources to launch, activate and embed in line with core business priorities and demands.
- Working with project managers and key stakeholders across the business, assess the change impact on projects and complete change management analysis reviewing both scale and specifics of change
- Working with business stakeholders, create change management strategies aligned to the project and business need
- With the project management teams integrate change management activities into project plans, aligning on logistical support, planned releases and operational readiness
- Maintain oversight of transition to BAU management on major projects and review projects at post implementation phase for adoption and support plans
- Partner with core functions e.g. P&C, Retail Ops, Supply Chain
- Partner collaboratively across the business to ensure alignment across communications, operational training, behaviour based learning and project delivery
Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience:
• Significant Change Management experience gained through several complex and varied environments. (10 - 15 years)
- Comfortable to challenge and coach at most senior levels
- Ability to Engage, Inspire & Influence (at all levels)
- Having managerial courage to tackle issues and challenge appropriately
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of commercial acumen
- Strong organisational, planning and delegation skills to balance many responsibilities simultaneously
- Excellent communicator and good team player
- Strong interpersonal skills; gets people to buy in and deliver to a high standard. A strategic thinker and very comfortable working in this setting
- Promotes a positive culture and displays resilience when devising and implementing change. Ability to work independently and pro-actively
- Relationships & Influence: Adept at building relationships and influencing at all levels
- Energetic; High drive and determination to deliver
- Retail experience – either working in or with a retailer or similar (management consulting) for a minimum of 8 years
