What's the role about?
The Engineering Team provides 24-seven seamless engineering support to circa 5m ft2 of Distribution Network buildings - critical in ensuring systems, infrastructure and automation deliver effective availability for online sales and store replenishment fulfilment.
This is achieved by delivering planned and reactive engineering regimes to provide a safe and efficient operational environment, contributing to the success of network engineering business objectives, where availability and service-level are pivotal to site performance, network proposition now representing 85% of online sales fulfilment across estate assortments.
What you'll be doing:
The Engineering Shift Manager supports the Building Engineering Manager / Engineering Operations Manager in formulating, implementing and achieving the department’s business objectives and service level targets, managing a technical team to deliver engineering regimes – planned, reactive and remedial, across the estate.
Your primary role is to lead, coach and develop individual teams of engineering technicians and fabric engineers to maintain buildings to a high standard, ensuring all legislative requirements and health and safety governance is met. This relies heavily on auditing work completion documentation and job closure demanding accurate record-keeping, given the network is constantly developing with new projects and change-work – empirically being under HSE F10 notification with extensive external contractor activity and internal team engineering infrastructure works for over half the trading year.

Strong leadership skills
Able to communicate effectively at all levels
Good working knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations including MHASAW (1999) and CDM (2015)
High-Level Organizational Skills
Commercial Awareness
Communication, Presentation Skills, Literacy, Numeracy
Performance Management experience
What else you could bring:
Engineering, Building Services or Construction experience >10 years
Appropriate Management Qualification(s)
IOSH / NEBOSH
CSCS Supervisor / Manager
Electrical or Mechanical Qualification to Level 3 or equivalent
Demonstrable Maintenance Systems and Processes proficiency
