Oji Fibre Solutions is one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers and suppliers of packaging solutions to a wide range of industries throughout the country. Our customers include blue chip manufacturers and marketers of packaging products to the food, primary produce, industrial and grocery sectors.

Based at our Corrugated Case business in Hornby, Christchurch, we provide innovative and high-quality cardboard packaging to the dairy, horticulture, industrial and food sectors. It's an exciting time to join, with the recent opening of our new purpose-built facility which is state of the art with more automation. The investment will achieve a more energy-efficient and sustainable operation.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, this role will take full responsibility to lead a team of shift based mechanical and electrical staff. This is a demand driven, high speed, and high-volume production environment. We require someone that has the technical nouse, but more importantly outstanding leadership and influencing skills to drive performance improvement and to expertly implement sound reliability initiatives across the business.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience in motivating a team
  • Proven success in Reliability-centred maintenance (RCM)
  • Sound knowledge of RCA and PDCA techniques
  • Strong influencing and communication skills with the ability to direct a team towards common goals
  • CMMS experience (MEX preferred)
  • Highly customer focused
  • Strong H&S emphasis
  • Project Management with an emphasis on continuous improvement and mistake proofing
  • Strategic thinker
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Experience within manufacturing or similar industry preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Experience working with automation systems, and a working knowledge of industry 4.0

Your responsibilities include the following:

  • Focus on machine reliability
  • Focus on team development
  • Management of the Maintenance Programme and on-going evaluation
  • Budget management
  • Evaluating Projects that require additional CAPEX with a focus on continuous improvement and mistake proofing
  • Focus on H&S and Implementation of initiatives
  • Maintaining and developing Supplier and Contractor relationships
