The Role & Skills

 Working in this role, you will be responsible for asset performance of the Gas Storage facility meeting safety, environmental, availability, reliability and efficiency requirements. You’ll also be implementing the people strategy, undertake recruitment, selection, training, development and competency assessment activities to ensure a competent workforce for ongoing commercial operation - including leadership, performance and development of engineering and technical projects team.

 

You’ll assist management of major planned outages/shutdowns and projects as well as manage contracts in areas of Engineering, Mechanical, Technical Consultancy and Projects. You’ll also develop and maintain the Asset strategy, processes and improvement programme for the Gas Storage site with the goal of achieving and optimised risk-based approach to asset management and implementation of best practice.

 

Key requirements for this role is that you have previous experience of leading a highly functional team and have experience of working and managing a team of skilled engineer.  We’re looking for you to have experience in an engineering environment and have comprehensive knowledge of working within a gas industry. With this, we’re looking for you to have a relevant technical or operational qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 as well as this, relevant engineering qualifications such as HNC or other higher education courses would be essential for this role. 

 

Along with the above qualifications, we’re looking for you to have experiences of managing a team in a regulated environment. You must be able to demonstrate strong leadership, organisational and implementation.

About The Station

 Our Gas Storage facility is designed to store up to 280,000 tonnes of natural gas in underground cavities. The storage cavities are spread across two active dairy farms located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Hole House (4 cavities) and Hill Top Farm (5 cavities). The storage site comprises approximately 28 hectares on Hole House farm and 33 hectares on contiguous Hill Top Farm.  The facility sits within our wider Thermal Generation business area which consists of Coal and Gas power stations based in Nottinghamshire.

 

We are a small site-based team with circa 45 people, our team delivers the full operation of the facility meaning that our people get a wide breadth of experience and opportunities within their day to day roles as well as involvement in site projects and outages. We actively encourage and support our team members to continuously develop themselves and their roles to enable the continued high performance of the site.
