About the opportunity 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strong people-leader and SME in conversational AI to lead and manage our conversational AI team.  This role will see you establishing an engineering culture of passion as well a providing real though leadership around the future direction of conversational AI.  Key Responsibilties include:

 

  • Recruiting, maintaining and growing appropriate software engineering capacity and competencies within the Conversational AI Chapter;
  • Defining, establishing, and maintaining engineering and releasing quality and performance standards and procedures across the Conversational AI Chapter;
  • Establish an engineering culture of passion for innovation and relentless improvement to the platform engineering organisation;
  • Work as part of a team developing applications and services using Agile development methods;
  • Lead with ‘secure by design’ mindset with PCI, PII and cyber security at the core of design;
  • Understanding and applying fundamental design principles behind a scalable application; 
  • Responsible for maintaining awareness of current business and industry issues/trends relating to contact center technology solutions.;
  • Work as part of strategic group in relation to future direction of Conversational AI in retail contexts;
  • Alignment of solution designs and strategic direction across multiple projects and business units;
  • Lead the adoption of Agile / Scrum practises, methodologies and mindsets;
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to all aspects of software delivery;
  • Technical leadership in delivery for significant software applications/project.

 

About you

  • Demonstrate a strong background and though leadership in the conversational AI / machine learning space;
  • Proven people leadership experience with at least 2+ years in software engineering management;
  • Good understanding of digital platform engineering principles.  Especially in Conversational commerce;
  • Experience with Contact center technologies would be highly advantageous (Genesys, Amazon connect, Twilio or similar); 
  • A good understanding and/or experience working in an Agile delivery environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.

 

Key technical capabilty

  • Experience with virtual assistants development frameworks (e.g. Dialogflow, Alexa skill, Facebook, etc..)
  • Experience with Node.js, specifically REST APIs with Express
  • Experience with cloud, with a preference for Google Cloud
  • Experience with Kubernetes, docker containers and managing cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with DevSecOps model and implementing CICD pipelines
  • Understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals.
