About the job

In this role, you will build on the success of Wear OS and execute a multi-year strategy across Devices and Services. You will have a unique opportunity at the intersection of services in the fitness and health space.

As the Engineering Director for Wear OS, you’ll be in charge of the key software that both powers our first party consumer-facing fitness and health experiences and the underlying platform used across first and third party products.

You will lead a growing engineering team as we accelerate our investment in Wear OS. Working closely with Product Management, UX, and partner teams across Google to define the Wear OS product roadmap and priorities.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical vision and strategy for design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, balancing short and long-term technology investments.
• Grow and lead a team of software engineers based in London. Build a collaborative team environment and instill an inspirational and healthy culture within the organization. Develop and grow talent through effective mentoring, succession planning, and retention strategies.
• Drive and lead software development efforts by driving architecture selection, software design, execution, and operations.
• Partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to drive product direction.
