Engineering Director, Advanced System Features – 126243

 

The Role:

As AMD grows, growing our leadership in systems engineering expertise is essential for all the new products in the AMD pipeline.

The leader of the Advanced System Features Engineering team advises our strategy, partnerships, engineering development teams, and global system development, system solutions, and customer engineering teams to deliver new and innovative system features to AMD product and systems. Lead forward looking, leadership capabilities into our products, software, firmware, ecosystem, and ultimately, shipping customer desktop, laptop, and workstation systems. Drive cohesive strategy and plans, hire teams, and deliver innovation in computer vision-based capabilities and user features.

 

The Person:

An ambitious engineering leader with a proven track record in visualization technologies or PC/gaming systems who appreciate Blend technical knowledge of PC system operation and optimized engineering processes with cross-company teamwork, influence, mentorship, and development of technical leaders. Bring sophisticated multi-functional alignment and team skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-functional formation and alignment of computer vision-based PC user experience innovations
  • Lead definition and alignment of HW/SW/FW requirements to implement those improvements
  • Assess the current state of AMD’s HW, FW, SW and ecosystem capabilities and define the generational improvements while engaging with existing cross-company efforts to build solution components
  • Grow advanced system development teams to implement and augment the existing IP/SOC/SW engineering teams and program and product management teams - implement, optimize, tune, and test at the system level
  • Define and engage in ecosystem partnerships for solution components
  • Ensure system assessments and customer platform attainment to deliver industry best products
  • Develop positive relationships with key people across the organization and development partners
  • Work with architects to set design and development plan and objectives (IP, SoC, Power, Firmware, System)

 

Preferred Experience:

Deep understanding of the involved technologies, capabilities and challenges, and a vision of the future of PC centric user experience improvements, leading this effort will require an unusual mix of technical breadth and depth, problem solving, management skills, and soft skills. It’s not for the overly introverted. Effective with communication and building respect while communicating status to executive level audience.

 

Technical Experience

  • Depth and expertise in image sensors, image processing, and image analysis and inference (AI/ML) as well as in PC user experience with respect to image processing and analysis as well as image consumption
  • Speak firmware and software, not just hardware
  • Understand PC system level impacts of computer vision functions on delivered performance, power consumption, and hardware and software

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field
  • Master’s Degree (MS) preferred
