What you'll do:

• Coach, council and develop the team, setting clear objectives.
• Determine staffing needs for open roles and work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard as needed.
• Be the face and voice of the team, engaging with stakeholders to ensure opportunities are identified for engagement.
• Undertake research and development activities to determine how emerging technologies can be used to support business objectives
• Be the subject matter expert in the department for objective and subjective video and audio quality analysis
• Perform compression efficiency investigations as part of ongoing projects

What you'll bring:

• Enthusiasm and energy by the bucket.
• An ability to write engineering white papers, prepare and conduct technical demonstrations.
• Be a confident presenter from engineers to C level.
• The art of being able to provide easy to understand advice and support to other internal groups to recommend appropriate technology for the implementation of systems solutions
• Technical skill sets needed are a strong knowledge of MPEG (MPEG-2, H.264, H.265, VVC, etc) and other: JPEG-XS, JPEG2000, AV1 and/or Uncompressed image and video formats
• An advanced level understanding of MPEG-TS carriage of video codecs, buffer models, PCR/PTS, bitrate.

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
