About the team

Our Engineering and Maintenance directorate manages a $1.5 billion annual maintenance program on behalf of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains – delivering a safe, reliable passenger fleet and metropolitan rail network, to meet growing customer demand and keep Sydney moving.

 

The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for an Electrician to be part of the Fleet Maintenance division of Sydney Trains. Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Manager, this role will see you involved in inspecting, servicing, overhauling and repairing electrical, mechanical/pneumatic systems, equipment and components on diesel fleet passenger trains to contribute to the reliability and availability levels for the passenger fleet.

 

The role will be based at the Eveleigh Maintenance Centre and is a permanent full-time opportunity.

 

This is a 24/7 rotating shift work position, 10/12 hour roster that requires you to work on weekends and nights.

 

What you will be involved in:

Carry out service, maintenance, fault-finding, problem analysis and repairs to electrical control systems on XPLORER and Endeavour railcars

Carry out service, maintenance, fault-finding, problem analysis and repairs to electrical generating systems on XPLORER and Endeavour railcars

Carry out service, maintenance, fault finding and repairs to train lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration systems on XPLORER and Endeavour railcars

Carry out functional testing of mechanical systems, engines, doors, brakes on XPLORER and Endeavour trains and assist Mechanical Engineering Operators in trouble shooting and repairs to equipment

Issue Service Certificate to train to authorise train for traffic operation

Maintenance Quality and Safety Continuous Improvement Initiatives.

About you

To be eligible for this role, you must hold a trade qualification in the Electrical field.

 

You will have demonstrated experience in conducting inspections, services, maintenance, component changes and repairs to electrical systems and equipment. You will be a safety champion and competent in the use of basic computer information systems and be flexible for travel.

 

You have proven ability to work with minimum supervision and meet scheduled deadlines.

 

Qualified or prepared to obtain supervisors licence in air conditioning and refrigeration.

 

A Forklift licence is also desirable.

 

Salary and benefits

The salary for this position is E09 ($1,540.80/week) plus shift overtime, superannuation and leave loading.
