Responsibilities

We are looking for an intern in the analog IC design group within the Microsoft Silicon Development organization. This group designs high performance mixed signal ASICs in CMOS technology using custom IC design tools.

 

The position involves designing analog and mixed-signal circuits, running simulations, and holding design review presentations. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated engineer with excellent technical skills.

 

You’ll be working with progressive, motivated, diverse, and exceptionally creative people to design and manufacture some of the most popular entertainment and PC peripheral devices in the world.

 

Day-to-day work includes:

 

·       Analog IC design.

·       Mixed signal IC circuit design.

·       Performing design validation simulations, pre and post layout.

·       Automation of circuit simulation and checking.

·       Holding design review presentations.

Qualifications

  • Currently in the process of obtaining their PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of one quarter, semester or term to complete after finishing an internship.
  • Preference for a bachelor's and/or master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Course work in analog IC circuit design, including design of amplifiers, comparators, references, bias circuits, and switched capacitor or sampling circuits.
  • Knowledge of device matching, parasitic extraction, and signal integrity.
  • Research focus should be in analog circuit design including high-precision, high-speed, low-power, power conversion circuits, or circuit simulation.
  • Automation of simulation and data analysis environments using scripting languages such as ocean, Python or tools such as MATLAB.
  • Results-driven with a strong attention to detail and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Architecture development and feasibility studies.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor sensors, especially image sensors.
  • Knowledge of basic analog building blocks and one or more of the following subsystems: ADC, DAC, clocking systems, voltage regulators, dc-dc switching regulators.
  • Experience / Expertise in simulation and testing of complex subsystem blocks.
