We are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Joint Design Office (JDO). JDO has been created to reinforce the HPC site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries and challenges coming from site construction, to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. A primary beneï¬t of this organisation is to save time for construction on site by having reactive answers and solutions to their activities to progress.
If successful, you will be reporting to the Mechanical & Electrical Discipline Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, you will be a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Engineer, contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries raised by the MEH Alliance installation Contractor or by Designers. This large installation contract covers the majority of MEH equipment and systems to be installed across the plant (Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC).
As an Electrical Design Engineer, your main focused will be on the electrical discipline, and you will be interfaced with several parties, such the Installation Contractor (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, and/or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation).

We offer a flexible way of working, being on Hinkley Point C on site at least 3 days and working from home the other 2 days. You may also be required to do additional travelling to the site and other offices.
What you’ll be doing….
• Responding to Change Request, General Queries, Non-Conformances and Exemption Requests originating from the Contractors on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site experts when needed.
• Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety requirements are met.
• Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
• Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.
• Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.
Who you are…
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
• Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
• Experience in electrical engineering.
• Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
• Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
